RANGERS fans paid tribute to "the best goalkeeper" as his funeral cortege passed Ibrox today.

The Glasgow Times spoke with emotional supporters who turned up to pay their respects to Andy Goram, who passed away earlier this month, aged 58. 

Hugh Dunlop, 39, from Kilmarnock, said: “I’m here today to pay tribute to an absolutely brilliant, and the one and only, best Rangers goalkeeper of all time.

"There’s only one Andy Goram. My favourite memory I’ve got of The Goalie is the New Year derby game, at Parkhead 1996 when he was outstanding.

"The other great memory was the 1-0 win over Celtic at Parkhead in November 1996 when he was absolutely outstanding that night too.”

Sandra Reddie, 74, from Haghill, added: “He was simply the best, a very good friend.”

James Rollings, 72, from Croftfoot, said: “I’m here to pay tribute to Andy Goram, one of the most famous goalkeepers that ever played for Rangers.

"Very emotional, I loved the man and I hope things go very well for his family.”

Meanwhile, Sharon Campbell, 45, from Motherwell, added: “Andy Goram was just The Goalie. He was the first goalie I remember growing up when I was going to the football with my dad.

"I met him after an Old Firm game when one of the Celtic supporters ran onto the pitch and he was saying how he wished he was playing, as he would have seen the supporter off! He was just the absolute best.”

Crowds of supporters lined Edmiston Drive to say farewell to the Rangers legend who died following a short battle with cancer.

Hundreds of people clapped as he passed Ibrox for the final time.

Lewis McConnell, 29, from Newton Mearns, said: “I’m here to pay tribute to Andy Goram.

“I’ve been in wheelchair football, and I’ve been a goalkeeper myself and I’ve always thought I’d love to be able to do that myself. 

"Any memories I’ve got are of him at Old Firm games. He just meant a lot to the club.”  

Similarly, Stephen McDonald, 52, and Thomas McDonald, 18, from Paisley, shared their appreciation for the former goalkeeper.  

Stephen said: “We’re here to pay our respects to Andy Goram, a Rangers legend.  

“He meant a lot to us and other clubs but also, to me. I’m so sorry to hear of his loss.”  

Likewise, Thomas said: “He just means so much to the club, to everybody and to lose him the way that we did, so suddenly.”

George Murdoch, 57, from Ibrox, added: “We’re here today just to pay our respects to Andy Goram. 

“He was probably our best ever goalkeeper that we had here at Rangers Football Club and we’re very grateful for him."

He continued: “Andy, we’ll miss you.”  

Jamie Watt, 55, from Partick, said: “I’ll most remember the favourable times of nine in a row which he did for Rangers.”  

David Atkinson, 59, from Knightswood, said: “I’m here to pay my respects to Andy Goram and for the service he gave to both Scotland and Rangers.
