TRANSPORT cops have reminded those travelling on trains that alcohol is banned.

A photo posted by BTP West Scotland shows a huge haul of booze that has been seized from travellers.

The transport officers wrote: "We want everyone to enjoy the sunshine, but a reminder if travelling by train that alcohol is currently prohibited on @ScotRail services.

"Officers across the West Coast are working with @ScotRail and @PoliceScotland to ensure you get to where you are going safely. #SaferShores."

A ban on drinking alcohol on trains came into force in November 2020.

The news comes as Scotland basks in a heatwave, and thousands are heading to beaches across the country.

Temperatures have reached as high as 28 degrees in Glasgow.

We previously reported that a huge collection of alcohol was seized from beach go-ers in Ayrshire yesterday.

Local police shared a photo on social media showing the massive haul of cans and glass bottles, which had been gathered by just 3pm, stacked across the length of two picnic benches.

A caption stated that the booze was confiscated "to prevent those intent on causing disorder and antisocial behaviour at our beaches".

With more warm weather predicted for today, police have reminded visitors of the laws surrounding public drinking in the area.
