SUBWAY bosses have given a sneak peek inside new driverless trains set to be on the tracks next year.

In a video on the Scottish Partnership for Transport (SPT) YouTube page, a short clip shows what passengers have to look forward to.

The 20-second video asks "Are you in the loop?" as it gives moody shots of the train carriage's fixtures and fittings.

Upholstered in the traditional orange, black and grey, the trains will have an open plan design rather than separate carriages and large windows that lets passengers see along tunnels.

SPT has said the subway may open longer hours, staying running later at night and later on Sundays.

Swiss company Stadler won the contract to deliver 17 underground trains for the SPT in March 2016.

Carriages have been constructed in Berlin and will reach a top speed of 36mph.

It makes the Glasgow subway the first in the UK to have driverless trains

Drivers have been receiving training to help them redeploy to new roles.
