A GLASGOW music festival has been told by council chiefs to remove its main stage following complaints.

Junction 1 festival, based in the Morris Park Complex in Oatlands, has been hosting gigs and DJ performances as well as a three-day festival in late July.

But after receiving over 200 noise complaints from residents, Glasgow City Council has decided to prohibit the use of the main stage in the purpose-built outdoor venue.

The stage will instead be removed and any events held in the future will be located indoors and in a smaller garden area.

A Glasgow City Council spokesperson said: “Our licensing and environmental health officers held an urgent meeting with the licence holder for Junction 1 today to discuss the noise complaints received about the venue and the breach of licensing conditions last weekend.

“As a result of this meeting, the main stage will no longer be used for future events.

"It will be removed and future events will be held in the smaller garden area and an indoor area."

Council bosses added that they would have officers in place at the venue this weekend to oversee the noise situation.

The spokesperson added: "In addition to this, the licence holder will issue letters to residents in Oatlands and Rutherglen explaining the temporary nature of the venue and the steps which will be taken to address the noise complaints.

“Our Environmental Health officers will attend the site on Saturday when the next event is due to take place to monitor noise levels and will continue to monitor levels for the remainder of the temporary licence.”
