He was arrested in the early hours of Monday morning and released from police custody to appear in court at a later date.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "On Monday, August 15, 2022, a 21-year-old man was arrested and charged with a road traffic offence which took place in Glasgow city centre.
"He has been released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date.”
Bernabei, who was on the bench when Celtic won 5-0 against Kilmarnock on Sunday, posted a photo with a pal on Instagram a few hours after the match at Parkhead.
It showed the pair sitting outside a restaurant on St Vincent Place.
Celtic signed the defender on a five-year contract at the end of June.
The club has been approached for comment.
