A Glasgow-based charity offered free back-to-school haircuts.

As reported by the Glasgow Times previously, The Halliday Foundation said it was providing the services to help struggling families amid the cost-of-living crisis.

Kids were invited to Barrowfield Community Centre and Helenslea Community Hall for their fresh trim.

Chris Halliday, 32, director of operations, said 46 children had their hair cut on Monday with dozens expected throughout Tuesday.

He said: “I’m well chuffed.

“I went home [on Monday night] and I was absolutely buzzing. I couldn’t get to sleep. It’s been such a success.”

Chris added that the Dalmarnock charity also handed out gas and electricity vouchers.

Hairdressers Robin Murray, 30, from Yoker, and Nathanial Buckley, 28, from Drumchapel, were both happy to help out at the event.  

Robin said: “It feels great to give back to the community and be part of it. It’s a passion.”  

Nathanial added: “It feels very good to give back. It’s a great feeling.”
