“The last time a human being died of smallpox, Queen Elizabeth II was 52.

“Queen Elizabeth II was 35-years-old when Sierra Leone achieved independence from the British Empire.

“When the Berlin Wall fell, leading to the reunification of East and West Germany, Queen Elizabeth II was 63-years-old.

“When The Beatles released the White Album, Queen Elizabeth II was 42.

“Queen Elizabeth II was about to turn 64 when Nelson Mandela was released from a South African prison.

“He had been imprisoned since Queen Elizabeth was 36.

“Queen Elizabeth II was 15 when Pearl Harbour was attacked.

“We are fewer than three lifetimes removed from the creation of the United States, and fewer than two removed from the abolition of slavery in the US.
