The Queen’s funeral is taking place on Monday, September 19 following the passing of the late monarch last week at the age of 96 in Balmoral. 

A bank holiday will take place, with many venues and events closing or being cancelled on the day of the state funeral. 

While many places will close, some venues have opted to show a live broadcast of the funeral across Glasgow.

Where can I watch the Queen’s funeral? 

Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral will be shown at the city’s Vue Cinemas in St Enoch Shopping Centre and the Glasgow Fort but viewings have since sold out. 

Seats for the screening could be booked on the Vue’s website and will broadcast live at 10 am, with an expected runtime of 5 hours. 

On the booking page of the cinema’s website, it states: “We will be screening the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, in selected UK venues.” 

The seats are free of charge but the food and drink options will be limited to complimentary bottles of water during the broadcast. 

They added: “On this day we will not be showing our normal programme of films.” 

The booking of seats for the funeral screening at St Enoch Shopping Centre and the Glasgow Fort could be made online.   

Stonegate pubs are also set to broadcast the state funeral to celebrate the life of the late Queen. However, the chain's owner said those running its leased and tenanted pubs will decide themselves whether to open or close.

Pubs which are set to open on Monday include Walkabout Glasgow and The Howgait.

Glasgow City Council has not confirmed any official viewings on the day of the funeral.

Yes, the Queen’s funeral will be broadcast live on BBC One, BBC News, and be available on BBC iPlayer. 

It will also be shown on Sky News and can be watched on their TV and YouTube Channels. 

When is the Queen’s funeral? 

The Queen’s funeral will take place on Monday, September 19, with duties beginning at 6:30 am, and the BBC coverage of the event starting at 8 am. 

The Service at Westminster Abbey will take place at 11 am while a later committal service at St George’s Chapel will also be broadcast.
