Halloween is fast approaching, and Glasgow and the surrounding areas have a cracking array of events throughout October.

These are the top events we found across the city for youngsters and adults alike for those looking to have a ghoulishly good time.

FOR THE FAMILY

Free family fun at the celebrated Paisley Halloween Festival:

From 6-9pm on October 27 to 29, the festival will possess the streets around Paisley Abbey with unearthly beings, crawling spiders, a fire-breathing dragon and more.

The event promises street performances, aerial acrobatics, and bespoke installations.

Embark on a family quest to find witches hiding in Pollok House:

Glasgow Times:

From October 29 to 30, Pollok House in Bellahouston invites you to the event, Is there a witch in our house?

Youngsters can follow a trail around the house collecting clues to find the witch.

Costumes are recommended and tickets include a take-home craft, candy apples, and lots of Halloween fun.

Tickets cost £5 for kids, £6 for concession, and £9 for adults.

Halloween Family Party and the Glasgow Science Centre:

Glasgow Times:

The whole family is invited to don their costumes at the Science Centre on October 21 and 28 for activities including Mould a Monster, Frankenstein’s Dissection, Pumpkin Hunt, and a Monster Mash Disco.

Halloween fairground Spooktacular returns to Silverburn:

From October 7 to 3, the Silverburn green car park will be transformed into a haunting array of attractions and rides with paid games, food and drink options, frights and photo opportunities.

Spooktacular promises something for the whole family. There are ticket options with rider wristbands offering up to four hours of unlimited rides.

GlasGlow returns to the West End with a dinosaur theme:

The Land That Time Forgot from GlasGlow will run from October 26 to November 13, inviting lucky ticket holders to an hour-long adventure through the Jurassic period.

Have a gourd time at The Pumpkin Festival in Motherwell:

The Pumpkin Outdoor Festival will take place at M&D’s theme park in Motherwell from October 8 to 30.

The festival has games, theatre, arts and crafts and a pumpkin express train and visitors are also invited to pick their pumpkins in the pumpkin patch.

Online tickets per person are £8.50 with a hot drink voucher and £10.95 with a pumpkin, and under twos go free.

The Barras Market hosts a Halloween edition:

On October 29 and 30, the Barras Market is having a weekend of Halloween fun from 10am to 4pm.

Traders will be in fancy dress and encourage visitors to dress up too.

The event promises crystals in cauldrons, tarot readings, tricks and treats, and spooky sweets.

FOR THOSE AGED 15 AND UP

Catch a freaky film at Glasgow Film Theatre:

The GFT is screening three cult classics and tickets are expected to sell out fast.

The programme includes screenings of Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992) which turns 30 this year, as well as Nosferatu (1922) with a live score and John Carpenter’s The Thing (1982).

Tickets range from £7.90-£10.90, or £6 with a free 15-25 membership.

The haunted Britannia Panopticon host several events:

The world’s oldest music hall, The Britannia Panopticon, is hosting a few Halloween events.

On October 21 they have a screening of Todd Browning’s 1932 classic feature, Freaks, followed by a night of Celtic Ghost Stories on October 28 and a screening of the silent classic The Hunchback of Notre Dame on October 29 which will have a live music accompaniment.

Is it really Halloween without a screening of Rocky Horror Picture Show?

This year, Platform at the Arches is screening the astounding, time-warping classic Rocky Horror Picture Show on October 29 at 8pm.

Halloween with Lawrence is set to be a night of frightfully good drag:

This one is by Klub Kids and is for over 18s only.

Winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race, the Glasgow-based Lawrence Chaney is throwing this Halloween party at AXM in the Merchant City on October 30 with performances, stage games, giveaways and a fancy dress competition.

Team up with pals or colleagues for an interactive horror escape room:

This horror escape room experience is taking place over four days at Riddle Rooms in the city centre.

The immersive experience features jump scares, live actors, and escape room games.

Teams must be between 2-5 people aged 16+ and last for 45 minutes.
