A woman allegedly stalked by her mum claimed she dreaded being delivered post after repeatedly receiving cards and gifts.

Rosemary Reid stated she was sent mail on a monthly basis by Marion Gill, 49, between October 2019 and June 2021 at her home in Glasgow's Kelvinside.

The 26-year-old said that Gill also pestered her through text messages and social media even after blocking her.

Ms Reid told Glasgow Sheriff Court that she halted all contact with Gill after she allegedly attempted to hit her while she held a baby in a sling.

Gill denies a charge of stalking and two separate allegations of assault towards her daughter.

The court heard from Ms Reid who stated in her evidence that tensions began during a family Christmas event in 2018.

Ms Reid said that Gill lunged at her three days later at her home in East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, during a visit.

The witness claimed that the next time Gill lunged at her was when she was holding a baby in a body sling in September 2019.

Prosecutor Ross Canning asked what Ms Reid meant by lunge.

She replied: "Raised hands more towards my shoulders.

"She was coming fast enough, I felt I had to move back.

"My husband stepped in between us. I felt scared."

Ms Reid stated that the pair became "estranged" as she restricted contact with Gill.

The witness claimed she changed her phone number but her husband kept Gill in his phone in case of emergencies.

She stated that her husband received text messages before the pair contacted Ms Reid's brother to tell their mum to stop communication.

The court heard there was a card seized by police allegedly sent to Ms Reid by Gill in her handwriting in April 2020.

Ms Gill was also seen to write on the card: "Do not continue to send post to this address as it is harassment - action will be taken against you."

Ms Reid stated that her husband received a lengthy text allegedly from Gill which said that she was in contact with a lawyer amid claims that she was going to take civil court proceedings against her daughter.

The text ended: "Forever in my prayers, good blessings."

The witness also recalled receiving presents allegedly from Gill around Christmas 2020.

She said: "When we came home there were presents in the storm doors.

"Access was gained at the buzzer and access was gained through the storm doors - there was only one door left before our flat."

Ms Reid said that the incident was "scary" to her.

Mr Canning asked how it made her feel.

Ms Reid sobbed when she replied: "Extremely distressed. There was a time my husband and I would dread post coming.

"Any time an anniversary came up we would dread because we would receive stuff from my mum.

"It was a reminder of how toxic the relationship had become.

"Any time something came to the house it would cause me to cry and cause my husband a lot of stress."

The trial continues next month before Sheriff Patricia Pryce.
