AN OFFICE development in Glasgow has welcomed a hat trick of new tenants following an award-winning £5 million makeover.

Ryden, Montagu Evans and Empiric are all moving into property group CEG’s ONYX building in Bothwell Street, Glasgow city centre.

The historic building underwent a multi-million-pound refurbishment last year, before going on to win the British Council of Offices award for Best Refurbished/Recycled Workplace in Scotland.

Glasgow Times:

Derek Tillery, Glasgow managing partner for Ryden, the Scottish-based commercial property consultants, said: “We required a new Glasgow base that would attract and retain the best talent.

“ONYX offers a contemporary and inspiring place to work. It is within easy reach of city centre amenities and transport hubs and provides very high speciation accommodation with exceptional wellbeing facilities and meeting our required green credentials.”

CEG previously delivered the first phase of business space, which included traditional office suites and flexible offer Let Ready, which means businesses can grow from 14-desks to whole floors of 7,000 sq. ft without changing addresses.

New facilities were also delivered as part of the refurbishment, including the large café run by Kitchenetta.

Glasgow Times:

Sustainability was at the forefront, saving more than 40 per cent of embodied carbon by renovating and not redeveloping.

Equipment has been upgraded and technologies have made the building more energy efficient.

One hundred per cent of waste was diverted from landfill and electricity is supplied via a renewable energy contract.

Tenants can also benefit from cycle facilities and shower facilities to encourage sustainable travel.

Grace Lewis, investment manager at CEG, said: “We are delighted to welcome so many new tenants to the ONYX business community. The refurbishment has provided a modern, healthy and productive working environment with the added bonus of an extensive café and business lounge.

“Our Let Ready suites have proved incredibly popular due to the innovative lease flexibility and the ease of the fully fitted out, contemporary space. Due to its success, we are already planning to roll out further studios to meet demand.”
