New plans have been submitted to Glasgow City Council for the creation of 48 apartments in the West End.

The proposal from development company Nixon Blue could see two new residential buildings raised at Beith Street in Partick. Planning Permission in Principal was approved in May 2021.

The Glasgow-based company is hoping to invest around £8m in the Beith Street construction which will create 50 jobs for building and construction workers.

Each new flat, if approved, will have two bedrooms and access to a private outdoor terrace space.

The building site once housed three tenement buildings (pre-1973) before they were demolished to make way for the Clydeside Expressway.

The site was purchased in May 2022 with the goal of returning residential flats to the area and supporting the regeneration of the Clydeside.

Plans include details to re-route and upgrade the existing cycle path along the expressway and the area will soon be transformed by the construction of a new ridge for cyclists and pedestrians connecting Partick and Govan.

Each six-storey building will be similar in scale to the existing tenement flats and modern housing developments in the area.

Colin McIntyre, director of Nixon Blue, said: “The designs are in keeping with the scale and mass of Beith Street housing and the surrounding tenement buildings.

“As a popular residential area, we want the new apartments to support the regeneration of the Clydeside as the new Govan/Partick Bridge will greatly link the city and its residents.

“Redeveloping on this site will support, connect and reinforce this area of Partick as a vibrant residential area.”
