THE date for Visit West End’s popular Christmas Light switch-on event for 2022 has been revealed.

Residents are being encouraged to grab their Santa hats for a day of festive family fun on Sunday, November 27.

The event will kick off at 11am on Vinicombe Street with a Christmas market, with stalls from a number of businesses from Byres Road and Ashton and Cresswell Lanes.

Festive fun will continue on Ashton Lane where they will be hosting their very own Winter Wonderland with more stalls from local businesses, live music, face painting and festive food and drink.

Glasgow Times:

There will be live entertainment from the main stage from 12pm on Vinicombe Street from local acts including Ben Monteith, Sabrina Mandulu and Robbie Lesuik. The switch-on will take place here at 5.30pm.

Cresswell Lane also will be home to some Christmas performances from a merry band of performers singing popular carols.

Visit West End will again be partnering with Social Bite for their ‘Festival of Kindness’.

Last year, generous Glaswegians donated more than 3000 gifts to those in need.

Glasgow Times:

This year, visitors can help spread goodwill by donating Christmas gifts to people who are homeless and vulnerable this Christmas time.

The initiative runs from November 25 until December 23. The Glasgow Tree of Kindness on Vinicombe Street is open Monday to Wednesday, 12pm to 4pm, and Thursday to Sunday 11am to 7pm.

John Turner, chair of the Byres Road and the Lanes BID, said: “This year seems to have flown by, and once again I have the pleasure of inviting everyone to the annual Christmas event run by and on behalf of the businesses in Byres Road and the Lanes.

"My wife and I have run a stall at the market for several years now, and it is always a wonderful day for all the family.

"We look forward to partnering once again with Social Bite and their Festival of Kindness, who will be accepting donations from the public at the base of their amazing Christmas tree. The people of the West End have been extremely generous over the last couple of years and I am sure they will be once again."
