RESIDENTS and businesses can help to improve a busy route through Bishopbriggs and North Glasgow.

The A803 Corridor Improvements Project aims to increase the number of journeys by active and sustainable travel, improve bus reliability, air quality and local environments, reduce dependency on cars, and support inclusive growth and access to employment.

The project team is currently undertaking a feasibility study to investigate what improvements could be made.

Views from communities on what they believe are the key issues, opportunities and potential improvements are now being sought.

Initial consultation is taking place until November 22. You can get involved by visiting eastdunbarton.gov.uk/A803-survey, or a drop-in event is taking place on November 15 at Bishopbriggs War Memorial Hall between 12pm and 6.30pm.

Information and paper surveys are also available at Bishopbriggs and Springburn libraries, as well as the Leisuredrome in Bishopbriggs.

Residents in Glasgow and East Dunbartonshire are being encouraged to have their say at the early stage to ensure the project develops in line with the needs of people who use the corridor.

Councillor Gordan Low, leader of East Dunbartonshire Council, said: "We want to engage with as many people as possible to help identify and develop improvements to the A803.

"The project aims to progress sustainable and active travel links, boost the local economy and employment opportunities, and give everyone more choices on how they travel. It will also help to connect communities currently separated by the A803."

Survey responses will inform a feasibility study to investigate what improvements could be made. This will be followed by further consultation.

Councillor Low added: "This is a great opportunity to help create a better environment along a strategically-important corridor, connecting communities, businesses, facilities and vital services.

"We’d encourage anyone with an interest in the area to share their local knowledge and ideas.”

Malcolm Offord, the UK Government's Minister for Scotland, said: "It is so important that community voices are heard during the project planning stages.

“These improvements will connect local residents and business owners with eco-friendly travel links between Bishopbriggs and North Glasgow, and I encourage everyone to take the opportunity to have their say.

"The UK Government is supporting the A803 Corridor Improvements Project and the regeneration of Bishopbriggs town centre as part of our £523 million Glasgow City Region Deal investment."
