The Fontaines D.C. are back in Glasgow touring with their third album and here's everything you need to know. 

The beloved Irish band, named the 'best band in the world' at the 2022 BandLab NME Awards is performing at the O2 Academy on November 17 and 18.

The post-punk group will also be stopping off in Swansea, Birmingham and Nottingham as they share their 'mighty' third album Skinty Fia with fans.

Here's everything you need to know before making your way.

What time does the Fontaines D.C. at the O2 Academy start?

According to the O2 Academy website, doors open at 7 pm on both nights.

The O2 Academy added: "We’ll always keep you up to date with door opening times and curfews, especially if they’re out of the ordinary for seasoned gig goers, but we don’t publish stage or performance times (sorry), as all timings are subject to change."

The support act for the Fontaines D.C. at the O2 Academy is Wunderhorse.

What is the age restriction for the Fontaines D.C. in Glasgow?

There are standard age restrictions in place for the Fontaines D.C gig with stalls allowing only those aged 14 and over.

Those aged 8 and over can watch from the balcony and under 16s must be accompanied by an adult over 18.

What items are banned at Fontaines DC's gig in Glasgow?

The O2 Academy allows for only one small bag per person and it must not be bigger than A4 size.

The size restrictions are as follows:

Height: 29.7cm
Width: 21cm  
Depth: 15cm  

Large bags - including rucksacks - are not allowed, so please make alternative arrangements, according to the venue.

It added that "there are no facilities to leave large bags or luggage".

Gig goers should also not bring food or drink, including chewing gum to the concert.

How to get to the O2 Academy in Glasgow for the Fontaines?

Train: The closest railway station is Glasgow Central which is about 10 minutes away.

Meanwhile, Glasgow Queen Street is about a 15-minute walk away.

Check the Scotrail app or website for the latest timetable. 

Subway: The nearest subway station is Bridge Street which is located around 300 metres away on Eglinton Street.

You are advised to check the SPT website for its opening hours.

Bus:  Buchanan bus station is located nearby around 2km away and there are the following bus stops located near the venue:

  • 3 (Eglinton Street – O2 Academy side) to Govan through Shawlands
  • 3 (Eglinton Street –opposite side) to Drumchapel, through the city centre and West End
  • 4 (Eglinton Street – O2 Academy side) to Newton Mearns
  • 4 (Eglinton Street – opposite side) to Knightswood, passes Glasgow University, to the city centre through the West End
  • 38 (Eglinton Street – opposite side) to various locations in the east end
  • 57 (Eglinton Street – O2 Academy side) to the south side through Kennishead and Silverburn
  • 57 (Eglinton Street – opposite side) to the north of Glasgow through the city centre

Car and parking: 

O2 Academy says that it is easily accessed by all major approach roads, including the M8 motorway.

While there are some options for on-street parking in the surrounding area, it highly recommends public transport.

Parking is subject to a voucher system operated by the City Council.

Vouchers can be bought at local participating shops, but be sure to check, as some streets are free after 6 pm or 8 pm.

There is also a 159-space car park at Bridge Street subway station, around 300 metres away on Eglinton Street.

Please be aware that the car park at Eglington Court is residential only and isn't available to customers visiting O2 Academy Glasgow, at any time.
