COPS across Glasgow are hunting for more than 1500 suspects for dozens of different crimes.

Data exclusively obtained by the Glasgow Times reveals there are currently a total of 1510 outstanding arrest warrants across the Greater Glasgow division.

Five of the warrants are for murder, thirteen for rape, and nine for abduction.

The data was provided by Police Scotland following a request under the Freedom of Information Act.

A total of 198 people, the most for one type of crime, are wanted for breaching a community payback order imposed by courts.

Cops are looking for 102 people wanted for assault and 12 people who assaulted a police officer.

Other crimes include child abandonment (2), child cruelty (2), domestic abuse (5), fraud (24), theft by shoplifting (67), breach of the peace (198), stalking (15), and supplying drugs (45).

Meanwhile, three people are wanted for indecent exposure and six for offences relating to brothels or prostitution.

The National Crime Agency’s “Most Wanted” list currently includes three men who have evaded justice for serious crimes in and around Glasgow.

Derek McGraw Ferguson, from Glasgow, is wanted in connection with the murder of Thomas Cameron on June 28, 2007, at the Auchinairn Tavern in Bishopbriggs.

Glasgow Times:

We reported in November last year that Spanish police hunting for the fugitive warned people he "could be found armed".

A “wanted” appeal was posted on social media by Policía Nacional in a bid to locate him.

We also reported last year that the reward for information leading to Ferguson’s arrest was increased to £10,000 from £5,000.

Meanwhile, Jonathon Kelly, from Drumchapel, has remained at large for 10 years.

Glasgow Times:

He received sentences in excess of 16 years, but in September 2013 he was released on licence and failed to adhere to the conditions set.

He is wanted by Police Scotland to serve a remaining sentence of nine years and 10 months.

The offences he was convicted of included assault to severe injury and danger of life, robbery, assault to severe injury and permanent disfigurement, breach of the peace and having a sharply pointed implement in prison.

In one of the most serious assaults, Kelly stabbed and paralysed his victim using a machete.

Back in December 2006, Rezgar Zengana posed as a private hire taxi driver to pick up a 25-year-old woman on Argyle Street before driving her to a property where he raped her.

Glasgow Times:

He was convicted at the High Court in Glasgow in 2008 but failed to appear for sentencing the following month.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Outstanding arrest warrants are closely monitored, and all investigative opportunities to execute them are pursued in line with divisional priorities."
