A CAR and a van were torched by a thug during a late-night attack in Paisley.

Cops were called after a Ford Transit van had been set on fire on Foxbar Road at 10.20pm on Monday night. 

Another call was made to police regarding a Volkswagen Golf being set alight on Talisman Road around 40 minutes later.

The owner of the vehicle revealed the car is "totally destroyed".

An investigation was launched by detectives following the fires. 

Enquiries have so far revealed that a man was seen acting suspiciously near a number of other cars on Talisman Road. 

Detective Constable Rebecca Daily, of CID in Paisley, said: “On Monday, January 23, 2023, we received a report of a vehicle on fire around 10.20pm in Foxbar Road in Paisley and then around 11pm another report of a vehicle fire in Talisman Road.

“Our enquiries have revealed that a man was seen to act suspiciously near a number of cars on Talisman Road.

“I would appeal to anyone who knows who was in the area and witnessed anything to come forward and contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 3898 of January 23, 2023.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 10.08pm on Monday, January 23, to reports of a vehicle fire in Paisley.

"Operations control mobilised one appliance to the town's Foxbar Road, where firefighters were met by a van on fire.

"Firefighters extinguished the fire and worked to make the area safe before leaving the scene.

"There were no casualties.

"We were alerted at 10.47pm to reports of another vehicle fire in Paisley.

"Operations control mobilised one appliance to the town's Talisman Road, where firefighters were met by a car on fire.

"Firefighters extinguished the fire and worked to make the area safe before leaving the scene.
"There were no casualties."
