LEWIS Capaldi revealed how much it meant to him to perform to a packed venue in his hometown.

The Glasgow star took to the stage at the OVO Hydro on Tuesday night as part of his Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent 2023 tour.

The tickets for the only Glasgow date sold out in seconds when released for sale back in October last year.

Glasgow Times:

After opening the show with new tune Forget Me, Lewis greeted the audience and said: "Glasgow, you beautiful f*****g c***s, how we doing?

"F**k, it's good to be back home, it's good to be back in Glasgow. This is where I live."

Lewis went on to say: "Many a time, I'll be out, I'll be walking the streets of Glasgow and someone will come up and go 'can I get a picture', and they'll go, 'wit you doing in Glasgow, man', and I'll go, 'I live here you f*****g idiot, wit else'.

"Anyway, it's good to be back, it's been a f*****g while since we've played here. Been a hot minute."

The show was a night to remember for fans as Lewis sang several of his popular hits including Hold Me While You Wait, Grace and Bruises.

Before performing a song from his new album, which is yet to be released, Lewis spoke about his mental health.

He said: "These last five years have been the best years of my life and I cannot thank you enough for that.

"But I would be lying if I said this doesn't get on top of me from time to time.

"Five years ago, I was just living with my parents, doing f**k all, and now we're selling out the f****g Hydro in seconds, do you know what I mean?

"I've made it no secret about the fact that I get anxiety, it gets on top of me a wee bit and sometimes I feel low, and this next song is a new song about one of the times when I've been low."

Meanwhile, the singer and songwriter's latest number one Pointless proved a hit with the audience as thousands sang along.

And ahead of closing the show with the 2019 hit Someone You Loved, Lewis told the audience: "One more f*****g song Glasgow.

"I want to thank you all so f*****g much for making this so special, for constantly showing up and supporting me. It genuinely means the f*****g world to me. I'm so lucky that I get to be doing this.

"Yeah, I don't know what else to say. The new album comes out in May, I hope you like it. It'd be lovely to do this for the rest of my life."
