BBC broadcaster Jennie Gow has issued a health update to fans after suffering a 'serious stroke' last month.

Gow, who covers Formula 1 for BBC Radio 5 Live, shared the update exactly a month from what she described as a “serious stroke”.

On the Twitter post on Sunday morning, Gow - who wrote the message herself - posted: "A month today I collapsed with a Stroke.

"With a lot of help from the NHS, friends and family, we are finding our feet in this post-Stroke world.

"I am having rehab every day (with lots of homework) and we are seeing progress but I can't tell you how exhausting it is!

"A final mention to my daughter and most importantly the husband @jamiecoley396

"Without him, I might not be here now. 

"(Excuse any mistakes - learning the write again is tough) Thanks for your support!! #stroke.

Fans and colleagues rushed to the broadcaster's comments to share their best wishes. 

Fellow BBC broadcaster, Sonali Shah, tweeted: "Oh Jenny - sending you love and strength for your recovery."

Lead Commentator for the International GT Open, George Morgan, posted: "Great to hear you're fighting back Jennie! Sending wishes for a full recovery."

Another fan shared: "sending so much love to you and your family and so much admiration for the work you and them are putting into recovery.

"We all know you'll be back to full strength as soon as anyone possibly could be."

While a fourth added: "Be strong! I believe in you. Post-stroke is not the final spot, it's a journey to recovery."
