A RACIST lout fought with a man after verbally abusing him.

Kenneth Patterson, 25, made the vile comments to an unknown Asian victim in Glasgow city centre on April 7, 2022.

Today, Glasgow Sheriff Court heard Patterson said: "Pakistani b*****d" to the man on Argyle Street.

The man crossed the road and approached Patterson.

The fiscal depute said: "A physical altercation took place between Patterson and the man."

An onlooker remarked that they heard Patterson shout: "Black b*****d."

Police later attended to find Patterson on the ground while under the influence of alcohol.

Officers helped staggering Patterson to a bench before putting him under arrest.

Patterson, of Broomhill, pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner which was racially aggravated.

Des Ziolo, defending, told the court alcohol was "at the forefront of his behaviour."

It was revealed that Patterson is currently serving a two-year sentence for a separate matter.

Sheriff Jonathan Guy sentenced him to 54 days for the present offence which will run concurrently to the other jail term.

He said: "Your behaviour on this night was unacceptable and the type of comments you made are ones that cause significant issues.

"The court must take a dim view of that.

"Having regard that you are in custody, there is no there is no other option to sentence to imprisonment."
