JERMAIN Defoe's ex-wife has spoken out following their split. 

Glasgow entrepreneur Donna Tierney married the former Rangers star at Cliveden House in Berkshire in June 2022. 

Since December, there have been claims that the marriage had ended. 

Today, Donna confirmed the couple have split in an Instagram post, shared with her 8.5k followers.

She shared a photo of herself and wrote: "Bit late to the party but 'Happy New Year', wishing everyone a year full of love, strength, positivity, happiness and blessings.

"2023 didn’t start the way I expected, but I’m determined for it to end as the most remarkable year yet.

"Truth be told it’s been the hardest time of my life, my heart was broken which was extremely difficult for me to deal with without having something that is so pure and real to me publicly devalued and disrespected on so many levels, which inevitably broke me."

She went on to add that her love for the former Rangers player was "100% real" to both of them, before addressing the future.

She wrote: "I’m back on socials, however, I’ve still got a long way to go to fully heal, at the end of the day it was a marriage, Jermain’s my husband and I his wife, we’ve only JUST separated and it’s still very raw."
