A TAKEAWAY has revealed the key to its success after being crowned the best in Lanarkshire.

Quintiliani's Fast Food told the Glasgow Times what it thinks sets it apart from other tough competition after scooping a prize at the Scottish Business Awards.

The popular business has been in Larkhall for more than 50 years and credits its success to treating customers like family.

The event was held at Glasgow's Crowne Plaza hotel on Sunday evening to showcase the best in the industry.

Rosaria D’Ambrosio, 47, took over the restaurant from her parents 25 years ago and works together with her husband Joseph, 48.

They also work with their talented son Moreno, 22, who has been perfecting pizzas with his grandmother's secret recipe.

The trio were shocked to scoop the award and also hailed the win to the fact they “keep things traditional”.

Rosaria told the Glasgow Times: “We were really not expecting to win, it was a real special surprise and means a lot.

“My parents taught me a lot and we really want to keep their legacy alive with our takeaway.

“I was told to always treat every customer like family and make sure they are very happy with everything before they leave the shop, I think that is what makes us different.

“We keep things traditional, my son is even learning how to make pizzas with my mum's recipe for sauce that is around 50 years old.

“The shop has a really great team, and we enjoy our work, the customers are really great.”

However, like many other takeaways, Quintiliani's has been affected by the cost of living as gas and electricity bills skyrocketed.

It has also seen suppliers' prices climb or items becoming unavailable due to the strain on the economy.

The cost of living has forced residents to pull their purse strings tighter, but the D’Ambrosio family were left grateful that locals still spend money with them.

Joseph said: “Larkhall is such a family-oriented community, we have seen full generations of families come into the shop. It is great.

“Our customers are loyal, and we really appreciate it especially now when it isn’t easy having a business.

“We are so grateful that people still come to us, they are so understanding.

“We really enjoy our jobs and are grateful for the award, we are going to go to the nationals this year.”

Speaking about their favourite dish on the menu Rosaria and Joseph both hailed their son’s delicious pizzas as top tier and said it even rivalled the shop's staple product, a fish supper.

Quintiliani's Fast Food is open from 4pm Tuesday to Sunday and is based in Percy Street in Larkhall.
