TREES in Glasgow's West End will be cut down due to them having a disease.
Glasgow City Council says tree removal works will take place in the woodland around Kelvin Way and Hillhead Primary next week.
This is due to a number of Ash trees having a disease called Ash Dieback.
The exact number of trees which need to be removed has not been revealed.
Prep-work has already started, and the work to remove the trees will take a number of weeks to complete.
A statement by Glasgow City Council read: "We appreciate your patience as access to the area may be restricted for health and safety.
"We're looking into ways to offset the impact of the removal, and are continuing to plant new trees across the city as part of the Clyde Climate Forest initiative, which intends to see 18 million trees planted across the Glasgow City Region by 2030."
Sadly, there are tree removal works that must take place in the woodland around Kelvin Way and Hillhead Primary next week (w/b 13 March), as a number of Ash trees have a disease called ‘Ash Dieback’ and cannot be saved 😞🌳 (1/2) pic.twitter.com/5ZnjlqNREY
