A Barras Market fashion show has now sold out twice due to popular demand.

The anti-fast fashion pop up runway will appear underneath the Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow on Thursday, March 30 at 7pm.

Tickets sold out for the exciting event last week, and then when extra tickets were released again this week they were snatched up within 24 hours.

This will be a unique night-time event for the iconic market, with traders also opening before and after the showcase.

Glasgow designer KENNEDY is organising the show and can't wait to debut new looks from the “sleazy rock’n’roll” brand.

The show is aiming to challenge fast fashion trends by promoting creative looks exclusively from local sustainable market traders and small businesses.

This will include both vintage and original pieces from Violet Vintage, Pure Barkin, Shobee Scribbles, and El Presidente.

The event will include food, drinks, a DJ, as well as the catwalk which will feature a variety of different styles.

Event organiser and designer, Fiona Kennedy, 28, told the Glasgow Times: “At first we were worried our ticket numbers were too ambitious, so to sell out twice is great.

“It has given me and other traders a lot of validation for what we are doing, so we are really chuffed.

“The show is all about slow fashion and promoting independent Glasgow creatives. It is an anti-fast fashion event.

“I will be showing looks from my sleazy rock style brand, the other traders will be showing their own looks and styles so there’s a lot to see.

"I wanted to do something that has never been done before.

“We are all in the market every weekend, and with the history of the Barrowlands it only seemed right that we keep it where we are based.”

Violet Vintage, who will also be debuting looks, said: “The Barras is an institution and it’s become such a hub of creativity and style and expression.

“I can’t wait to showcase my stuff there, there’s such a buzz about it there will be some really special fashion on show."

We previously reported how Violet Vintage has sold pieces to Netflix hit TV studios shooting historic dramas.

Owner, Leyna Rafferty, was “buzzing” after finding out a suit from her shop was scooped up by The Crown costume department.

We also previously reported how the Barras Market will also be transformed into a Hong Kong-style street market later this month.
