THE roll-out has begun for Covid booster jabs in Glasgow.

As part of the ongoing effort to combat the virus, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is delivering spring boosters for those aged over 75 and anyone with a weakened immune system.

People who are eligible will either be sent an appointment or sent information on how to book one.

Dr Emilia Crighton, interim director of public health at NHSGGC, said: “Covid-19 is still with us and research has shown that protection from the Covid-19 vaccine can fade over time and that is why it is essential for those who are most vulnerable to receive their spring booster.

“Recently, we have noticed an increase in Covid-19 cases and the booster is an important step in our efforts to combat the virus and I would encourage those eligible to get vaccinated.

“The vaccine offers the best possible protection against serious illness and while some people may still catch the virus despite having the vaccine, any illness should be less severe.

“We would encourage all members of the public to continue following good practices including wearing a mask if you are feeling unwell or are in a hospital setting and regularly washing your hands.”

If your appointment is not suitable for you, you should reschedule by contacting the National Vaccination Helpline on 0800 030 8013 or via the online booking portal.
