A GLASGOW pub has collected more than 300 Easter eggs from the community to be given to those in need of a special treat.

The Florida Park in the city's Mount Florida took in 340 chocolate treats from kind-hearted people in the local area.

Staff began collecting the eggs in March as a way to help those facing pressures from the cost-of-living crisis, which continues to put a strain on finances.

The pub will now donate the collection to Clincarthill Church and Aberlour, a children's charity dedicated to giving disadvantaged youngsters and their families a brighter future.

Glasgow Times:

The collection was part of a wider plan by Proper Pubs, the community division of Admiral Taverns, which The Florida Park is part of.

Across its estate, Proper Pubs has collected more than 12,200 Easter Eggs and will continue to take in more over the Easter weekend.

Matthew Gurney, operations director for Proper Pubs, said: “We have always championed community pubs because we understand the value they bring to millions of people across the country.

"The Florida Park is so much more than just somewhere for people to go for a drink – it is an integral part of the Glasgow community where people come together to support one another.

"It’s incredible to see this in action through this initiative, and even better to be able to provide a little treat to those who might otherwise go without.

“As always, I am so grateful to our fantastic operators and their communities who have come together to make this happen, demonstrating Proper Pub’s commitment to community focus.”
