A Scots singer has called on Glasgow City Council to seek the help of a Hollywood actor to fill potholes.

Amy Macdonald shared a video clip of Arnold Schwarzenegger helping his neighbours fill in a huge pothole that he said was 'screwing up cars and bikes for weeks'.

He added: "I always say, let's not complain, let's do something about it."

And the Bishopbriggs-born singer decided to share the video and tag Glasgow City Council on Twitter, telling them to give the Terminator star a call to help fix potholes in the city.

Social media users were quick to make jokes about the idea, with many calling him the 'Tarminator'.

Another added: "If the tar all comes out again Amy... He'll be back!"

A Glasgow City Council spokesperson said: “We understand why a movie legend maintaining a road surface has attracted attention, but this is not a course of action we can support in Glasgow.

“Only a roads authority such as a council can undertake or instruct repairs by an accredited contractor.

“Anyone undertaking such work without the proper authority can be fined or become liable for any damage caused by their repair.

“We’ll be sure to tell Mr Schwarzenegger about this the next time we see him.”
