Police have arrested a man and woman after discovering a major drug haul.

Officers carried out a stop and search on a vehicle after noticing suspicious activity while on proactive patrols in Paisley.

The driver and passenger were allegedly found to be in possession of a significant quantity of class A drugs, worth around £5000.

The incident happened on Fulbar Road on Saturday night.

The 37-year-old man and 35-year-old woman were arrested and charged with drug supply offences.

Detectives then discovered the man was allegedly driving without a valid licence or insurance.

He was charged with road traffic offences, and the car was seized by officers.

Police Scotland said: “On Saturday night officers from the Violence Reduction Unit based at Ferguslie Park Police Office were on proactive patrols in Paisley when they carried out a vehicle stop on Fulbar Road after observing some suspicious activity in the local area.

“The male driver and female passenger of the car were searched and found to be in possession of a significant quantity of class A drugs with an estimated street value of £5000.

“It was discovered that the man driving the car was doing so without a valid licence or insurance.

“The 37-year-old man and 35-year-old woman were arrested and charged with drug supply offences.

“The driver was also charged with road traffic offences, and the car was seized.

“Both will appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on a later date.”
