A LOVE Island star will delve into the issue of body image in a new documentary.

Anton Danyluk featured in the fifth series of the reality dating show in 2019 and is known for his athletic physique.

But the Airdrie man has battled body insecurity for all of his life and got into fitness as a reaction to the bullying and body-shaming he received.

In Anton Danyluk on Body Shame, Anton will explore the issues faced by young men who are plagued with body image fears and the role social media plays in this.

Glasgow Times:

Anton also worries he may be part of the issue as he reflects on whether he is hiding his own insecurities and also inadvertently making some boys believe in an unrealistic ideal body by plying his Instagram account with photos of his ripped body.

He meets young men who struggle with their body image to understand how they’re affected by what they see online and compare their experiences of body shaming with his own.

Described as a "frank, personal journey", Anton also considers his time on reality TV and speaks to mental health experts as he questions how the media obsession with ‘ripped physiques’ affects young men.

He said: "I want to find out what is causing this growing problem and as a reality star and influencer I want to find out how TV and social media could be fuelling this male body image crisis."

Anton Danyluk on Body Shame airs on Thursday, May 18 at 10.30pm on BBC Scotland.
