POLICE have launched an investigation after thousands of pounds worth of damage was caused at a derelict church in Johnstone.
Officers attended The Church of the Latter-day Saints, in Campbell Street, at around 1pm on Wednesday, May 10.
Windows were found smashed and property inside the building had also been damaged.
Police said the total cost of damage, which has been described as "extensive", is still to be confirmed but is estimated to be a four-figure sum.
It is believed the vandalism took place between Wednesday, April 19 and Wednesday, May 10.
Enquiries are ongoing and police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
Anyone with information is asked to call officers on 101, quoting incident number 1478 of May 10.
