POUNDLAND bosses have confirmed they will permanently close the doors to their Cumbernauld store next month.

The shop, which is located in The Centre on Teviot Walk, will close on Sunday, June 11.

Customers are being advised the closest stores will be in Airdrie and Coatbridge.

A Poundland spokesperson said: "We never like to close a store – this year we’ll add more than we began the year with and much more selling space.

"We know even though it was a small store, it will be disappointing to customers in Cumbernauld that we’re closing on June 11.

"It goes without saying we work hard to look after our colleagues there and we hope to welcome Teviot Walk customers to our closest stores in Airdrie or Coatbridge."

We previously reported Poundland opened its largest store in Scotland on Saturday, March 11 on Crown Street in the Gorbals.
