A taxi driver could be crucial to an investigation into a road crash that saw a woman fighting for her life.
We reported on Saturday that the 32-year-old was struck by a car on Bell Street in the Merchant City shortly before midnight.
Police confirmed a 51-year-old man has since been arrested.
It is understood he was released pending further investigation.
Officers are now appealing for further information and believe a taxi driver – who was driving a black people carrier-style vehicle - may be able to assist with their enquiries.
Police Constable Gary Stewart said: “Our enquiries are ongoing and we are keen to speak to a taxi driver we believe may be able to help with our investigation. He was driving a black people carrier-style vehicle.
“I would also urge anyone else who has not already spoken to officers and who has information that could assist to get in touch.”
Anyone with any information is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 4941 of Saturday, June 10, 2023.
