AN update has been issued by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) after a man became 'trapped' on the subway. 

We previously reported emergency services were called to Cowcaddens subway station at around 12pm after a man's leg became trapped between the carriage and the platform. 

Three fire engines were sent to the scene and fire crews freed the man

He was taken to hospital by ambulance and is said to have suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident.

The Outer circle was suspended while emergency services worked to free the man and the station was closed to all passengers.

It has since been reopened. 

An SFRS said: "At 12pm on Tuesday, June 27, Operations Control mobilised three appliances to Cowcaddens Subway Station to assist in extricating a male casualty who had his leg trapped between the train and the platform.

"The casualty with minor injuries was transferred to hospital by the Scottish Ambulance Service."

Glasgow Times:

A spokesperson for SPT said: "Subway Outer Circle was suspended while emergency services dealt with a passenger incident at Cowcaddens station.

"The station was closed to passengers and no trains were stopping at the station.

"We apologise for the inconvenience and thank passengers for their patience.

"Outer Circle is now running and Subway is running as normal."

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 1215 hours today to attend an incident at Cowcaddens Station.

"We dispatched one ambulance, our trauma team and our special operations team (SORT) to the scene. We transported one male patient to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.”
