GLASGOW University has paid tribute to a "much-loved" lecturer following her death.

The university shared news of Dr Johanna Green's death on Thursday, July 20 on social media, the day before what would have been her 40th birthday. 

She had been diagnosed with stage four bowel cancer in 2018.

Sharing the news on Twitter, the university's Information Studies department tweeted: "Johanna Green, July 21 1983 - July 20, 2023.

"It is with heavy hearts we mourn the loss of an exceptional teacher, scholar, and friend.

"Johanna's legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched."

Glasgow University quote tweeted the post writing: "We are heartbroken to hear of the loss of Johanna Green.

"A much-loved colleague, extraordinary teacher and friend.

"Sending all our love to Johanna’s family and friends and all who loved her.

"She was a wonderful and warm person - one of a kind."

The university's College of Arts said: "We are very sorry to hear about the loss of Johanna Green.

"Our condolences and thoughts are with her family and friends.

"She was a wonderful friend and colleague, and will be missed by all of us in UofGArts."

The English Language and Linguistics added: "We're mourning the loss of one of our own, a friend and a colleague, Dr Johanna Green.

"She did her PhD with us in Old English supervised by G.Caie & @Lofgjarn

"An immensely talented teacher, she inspired all with her knowledge, enthusiasm and out-and-out love for MS studies."
