A MAN was cleared of holding a pyrotechnic at a COP26 protest in Glasgow.
Nathan Hennebry, 21, was alleged to have committed the offence around Kelvin Way and Argyle Street on November 6, 2021.
Hennebry, from Dumbarton, told a court that he was part of a group from the Young Communist League of Britain walking in a wider protest.
The route took protesters between Kelvingrove Park and Glasgow Green.
Court papers stated Hennebry culpably and recklessly held an ignited pyrotechnic flare.
The charge went on to say that this caused sparks to land on the clothing of police officers placing them in danger of injury.
Hennebry denied the single charge at Glasgow Sheriff Court and stood trial.
He was found not guilty by a jury after a two-day trial.
Sheriff Tony Kelly said: "The jury found you not guilty and I formally acquit you.
"You are free to leave the dock."
Hennebry replied: "Thank you."
