AN ANIMAL-loving schoolgirl enjoyed a special visit to Dogs Trust – where she got to see behind the scenes and make friends with the pooches.

Harper McGuire was treated to a trip to the animal shelter in Uddingston, thanks to the Les Hoey Dreammaker Foundation charity.

The nine-year-old, from Chryston, lives with muscular dystrophy after being diagnosed at just two years old.

Glasgow Times: Glasgow Times: Earlier this week, Harper got the chance to be a volunteer and see all the hard work that goes into taking care of the dogs in need of a home, including watching them getting their exercise time.

The young dog lover then presented the furry friends with some goodies in a box to help keep them entertained.

Glasgow Times: Glasgow Times: Melissa McGuire, Harper’s mum, said: “She loved it, she had a ball. It was emotional watching how excited she was and how pleased she was.

“She was thankful for what they [the charities] done for her.”

Harper, who has her own dog called Daisy, spent hours at the centre before getting treated to two goody bags and dinner.

The kind-hearted youngster is currently writing a ‘thank you’ letter to the Dreammaker Foundation following her experience.

For more than 30 years, the charity has been bringing joy to children with serious illnesses.

Melissa said: “This was the first time we had been in touch with the Dreammaker Foundation.

“They were lovely and really helpful. It was quick from the initial contact to Harper going to the centre.”

Glasgow Times: Angela Cook, Dreammaker charity manager, said: “We are so grateful to the fantastic team at Dogs Trust Glasgow for helping team DreamMaker make our wee DreamMaker Harper’s dream day so special.

“We would like to Thank Sandra and her amazing Team at Dogs Trust Glasgow for their kindness and help in making this day possible for Harper. If you are looking for a new furry friend please give them a visit.”
