ScotRail have confirmed services between Glasgow and Inverness will “definitely” not resume tomorrow.

It comes after major flooding halted trains across the country this weekend.

Now the disruption has been confirmed to continue next week as staff frantically try to fix the damage.

A spokesperson for ScotRail said: “Services between Glasgow and Inverness definitely won't resume tomorrow as the line is still affected by flooding.”

An amber weather warning is in place across the city and the MET Office has warned that the flooding and rainfall could cause severe disruptions.

We previously reported repair works and safety inspections are underway at railway lines after some areas saw up to a month’s worth of rain in a 24-hour period.

Several pictures across Glasgow show the extent of flooding.

ScotRail has shared photographs of several stations which are underwater, including Bowling, Thorliebank, Dalmarnock and Greenock West.

Glasgow Times readers have also sent in pictures of flooding, including in Pollok, in the Southside.

Customers whose journey has been cancelled or disrupted due to adverse weather this weekend can travel two days after the date on their ticket. Customers can also apply for a fee-free refund on any unused tickets.

David Simpson, ScotRail's service delivery director, said: “The weather we have seen over the weekend has been extreme and in some parts of the country we are continuing to see dangerous levels of rainfall and flooding.

"We appreciate that weather-related disruption like this can be frustrating, but our first priority has to be the safety of the public and our colleagues.

“Our staff across the country, alongside colleagues at Network Rail, are working hard to get services back to normal as quickly and safely as possible, with the priority being getting things back to normal for Monday morning.

“Customers are advised that they should check their journey before travelling, and keep an eye on our website, app, or social media feeds for live updates.”
