VOTING has begun for the 2023 Glasgow Community Champion Awards.

We revealed the contenders last week amid a flurry of excitement, and groups and individuals across the city have been rushing to support their favourites.

The public vote to determine the winners of the regional heats is now open – so it is time to get behind who you think should win this year.

The Glasgow Times awards, in association with Glasgow City Council, Wheatley Glasgow, Merck and Trades House of Glasgow, celebrate everything that is great about the city and its people.

Once again, our readers will determine who triumphs in each category in the north west, north east and south areas.

This year’s categories include Team, Uniformed Services, Individual, Public Service, Young (for under-17s), Senior (for over-60s), Health and Wellbeing, Sport and School of the Year.

Last year’s winners included The Courtyard Pantry, a vital community hub in Ruchill which provides discounted food to locals, runs a welcoming cafe, and helps local people get jobs and volunteering opportunities.

It is free to cast your vote and voting closes on October 31. The winners of each heat will go through to a final judging session, and will be announced at the Grand Final at the City Chambers on December 5.

The Grand Final is a glittering affair, with a three-course dinner, entertainment and sparkling host Michelle McManus overseeing proceedings.

Glasgow Times Editor Stacey Mullen said: “This year’s shortlist for each area is quite something. We have been blown away by the standard of entries, as always, and we are absolutely over the moon to be able to recognise so many fantastic groups and individuals across the city.

“Now, it’s over to our readers to vote for the people they believe deserve recognition for the work they do in their communities. We can’t wait to see the results.”
