HUGE names have been confirmed in the line-up for Glasgow's 2023 christmas lights switch-on - including singer Michelle McManus.

Glasgow Loves Christmas is bringing the event back to George Square on Sunday, November 19 to make the start of the city's festive celebrations.

Entry gates to the square for 10,600 ticket holders will open at 4.30pm in Cochrane Street and George Street before musical acts and theatre stars deliver a series of spectacular performances.

The event, which starts at 5pm, will be hosted by Clyde 1 presenters George Bowie and Cassi Gillespie and kicks off with a performance from Simply Ariana - an Ariana Grande tribute act.

Country singer-songwriter Kevin McGuire will then take to the stage before a Scottish Ballet performance of Cinders!

Glasgow's very own Michelle McManus will perform her new Christmas single Christmas Glow, and she will be followed by appearances from Treasure Island cast members from the Pavilion Theatre, Scottish TikTok star Nati Dreddd and the Soul Nation Choir.

The Christmas lights will then be switched on at 7pm.

We previously reported there will be no fireworks at this year's ceremony, with the focus instead being on live performances and the switch-on itself.

Jacqueline McLaren, Glasgow’s Lord Provost, said: "The Christmas lights switch-on brings families and friends together for a wonderful night of festive fun and is a highlight of Glasgow’s events calendar.

"There’s so much to see and do in Glasgow this festive season, from the Winterfests in George Square and St Enoch Square to the annual Santa Dash – there really is something for everyone to enjoy."
