ALDI is set to open a brand-new store in Cumbernauld next month. 

The new supermarket will open on Castlecary Road on Thursday, December 7 at 9am with a ribbon cutting ceremony. 

Run by store manager Craig Watterson, along with a team of 40 colleagues, the store will offer fresh, Scottish meat products with weekly offers, Aldi's award-winning 'Specially Selected' range, exclusive beers, wines and spirits, and a Food to Go section at the front of the store.

The legendary Specialbuys will also be available in the middle aisle every Thursday and Sunday, offering extraordinary value on a wide range of products, from electrical items to garden tools.

On opening day, Craig and his team will be joined by Olympic silver medallist Hammy McMillan Jr to, with Hammy giving away complimentary bags of fresh fruit and vegetables from the Super 6 range to the first 30 customers in the queue.

Craig said: "We can’t wait to open the doors to the new store at Westway Retail Park.

"It’s set to be a special day and having Olympic hero Hammy McMillan Jr join us will make it a morning to remember."

Curling star Hammy McMillan Jr added: "I’m so excited to be opening Aldi’s new store; it will be great to chat to customers and a lovely way for me to thank Aldi for its support of Team GB."

The new Aldi will be located at Westway Retail Park on Castlecary Road. 

It will be open from 8am to 10pm Monday to Friday, and from 9am to 8pm on Sunday.
