As the festive season kicks off in the city we are spoiled for choice for weekend plans.

Whether you're into parties or pantos there's something for everyone this Christmas.

We have put together a list that includes just some of the excitement on offer for those looking for fun this weekend.

Christmas Markets

Glasgow’s Christmas Markets are in full swing in the city centre and are well worth a visit.

George Square and St Enoch Square have been lit up after Winterfest transformed them into magical wonderlands.

They are offering festive foods including German sausages and massive chocolate cakes.

They also have other sweet treats and decorations from stalls which are dotted in between exciting rides. From family friendly amusements to thrill seeker attractions everyone can enjoy the fun.

No tickets are needed as entry is free with both locations opening at 11am while St Enoch Square shuts at 9pm while George Square closes at 10pm.

Pantos

Pantos are the perfect festive family activity and this year there is no shortage of performances.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is on this weekend at the King's Theatre starring pantomime legends Elaine C Smith and Johnny Mac.

It is promising comedy, sensational song and dance numbers, fabulous costumes and stunning scenery.

Limited tickets for the show are still available from £13 and are still available for Friday and Saturday at 7pm.

You can also still get tickets for a matinee showing at 2pm on Saturday and 1pm on Sunday.

Meanwhile A Crackin’ Cinderella Story will entertain crowds at Websters Theatre as a modern twist on the iconic classic fairytale.

Tickets start from £13.50 with performances on Friday and Saturday at 7.30pm and Sunday at 5.00pm.

It will be filled with pop chart hits, dancing and the good old Scottish banter.

Winter Warmer

A Winter Warmer is being held at the Advanced Research Centre (ARC), University of Glasgow this weekend.

It will offer a whole host of festive activities, with a special smattering of events focussing on the theme of light.

Attendees can drop-in any time between 12pm and 15pm for the free event which includes Christmas decoration making and VR displays.

The Western cafe will also be open during the event for soup and sandwiches, coffee and cakes.

Breakfast With Santa


Make sure you’re on the nice list to party and dine with Father Christmas this weekend.

Head along to the Hard Rock Cafe in Glasgow and enjoy Breakfast with Santa in the city.

Enjoy children’s entertainment from Bounce and Party along with a special visit from Kris Kringle.

Pre-Booking is essential as this is a very popular event. Children under the age of two do not require a ticket.

Calum Bowie

Calum Bowie will be performing in the city this weekend. He is headlining The Garage on Saturday at 7pm with tickets still available for £16.50.

The singer-songwriter is well on his way to becoming a household name and is certainly not one to miss.

Since his debut release in 2018, Calum’s presence among the Scottish music scene has grown exponentially, with his captivating lyrics fuelling his uplifting music.

Taking influence from the likes of Sam Fender, Alfie Templeman, and Maisie Peters, Calum ‘has been redefining the Scottish music scene for some time now’ as complimented by Spotlight UK.
