EVERY January the Veganuary campaign challenges people to go vegan for the first 31 days of the year. 

Whether people are planning a complete lifestyle change or just want to cut down on the amount of meat and animal products they're consuming, the challenge is a great way to reset after the festive period.

However, one thing that may put people off taking part in the challenge is the fear that they won't be able to go out for food and enjoy their favourite dishes. 

But with Glasgow's abundance of vegan-friendly eateries there's no need to worry, with vegan friendly pizzas, burgers and even kebabs in no short supply.

Here are five vegan restaurants to try in Glasgow this Veganuary...

Stereo

22-28 Renfield Lane

Located inside a building designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, vegan bar and kitchen Stereo has been in the city centre since 2007.

Offering seasonal food, the menu at this well-established spot is constantly changing offering customers a variety of tasty small plates, mains and desserts.

This isn't just a restaurant though as at night there is also a variety of gigs, live performances and club nights in their downstairs venue.

All food and drinks served at Stereo are completely free from any animal produce.

 

Mono

12 King's Court

Mono is another city centre vegan spot that also offers a range of events, including gigs, exhibitions, book readings, art performances and workshops. 

If you're taking part in Veganuary and feel you're missing out on any of the foods your normally enjoy, you might find the perfect alternative here with the menu offering a variety of burgers, pizzas and chip shop favourites, amongst other options, with most costing less than £15.

All food is made fresh on the site and is completely free from animal produce.

 

Soul Food Kitchen

973 Sauchiehall Street

Located in the city's Finnieston, the vision of Soul Food Kitchen is to make "nutritionally balanced, delicious plant based food more accessible to the people of Glasgow". 

As well as serving a variety of big and small plates, cakes, truffles and cold press juice, Soul Food hosts events such as Kombucha workshops to help you improve your overall wellbeing. 

The spot is also dog friendly so you can bring your four-legged friends along too.

 

 

The Glasvegan

50 St Enoch Square

If you're looking for a quick stop in the heart city centre, The Glasvegan serves vegan fast food and offers takeaway.

The coffee shop has an extensive menu offering breakfast and lunch food including a full Scottish breakfast. 

There is also a variety of sweet and savoury crepes, burgers, kebabs and hot dogs.

All food served at The Glasvegan is animal product free.

 

Suissi Vegan Kitchen

494 Dumbarton Road

Suissi Vegan Kitchen opened the doors of its Partick restaurant in 2019 serving handmade Asian-fusion plant-made food. 

Since opening, the eatery has attracted both the vegan and non-vegan community, making it an ideal spot to venture to if you're taking part in Veganuary. 

The menu has a variety of curries, noodles and starters such as gyoza and wontons.

As well as being animal product free, all dishes are also free from MSG and artificial enhancers.
