A charity that supports individuals to live independently in their own homes has received £600 in funding.

The funds towards Neighbourhood Networks were raised by North Lanarkshire councillors and staff at the annual Provost’s Christmas jumper day.

Provost Kenneth Duffy, councillor of North Lanarkshire, said: "The generous donations from elected members and council staff will help contribute to the outstanding work undertaken by Neighbourhood Networks throughout our communities and beyond.

"North Lanarkshire is a place well-known for rallying around and supporting those in need, and we have so many wonderful voluntary groups and individuals within our communities.

"Well done to everyone who helped with their donations, and on behalf of the council, I want to thank Neighbourhood Networks for the vital service they provide to support vulnerable people in our area."

Neighbourhood Networks specialises in helping individuals with learning and physical disabilities, and mental health concerns to live independently.

The charity offers support and expertise through Community Living Workers, enhancing the quality of life and reducing feelings of isolation for those they serve.

Dorothy Watson, network manager with Neighbourhoods Networks, said: "We are very grateful to the Provost for organising this fantastic fundraiser and for the council’s ongoing support for the work we do.

"This donation will be a great help for our service users."
