A hospital in Clydebank has maintained their Investors in Young People Gold Status Accreditation.

NHS Golden Jubilee's Investors in Young People (IiYP) focuses on the recruitment, retention and development of young people by providing a framework to organisations looking to enhance and develop their approach and skills.

Laura Smith, director of People and Culture at NHS Golden Jubilee, said: "We are delighted to have retained the Investors in Young People Gold award.

"The teams across NHS Golden Jubilee are dedicated to providing opportunities and support to young people in the organisation and our community so they can achieve and thrive in their chosen careers."

NHS Golden Jubilee was the first NHS Scotland organisation to receive the award in 2017.

The organisation has established relationships with local schools, colleges and universities, promoting apprenticeships, mentoring, careers and information events, placements and work experience.

In the past year, the hospital introduced the Newly Qualified Nurse Induction programme, offering necessary support and information to new recruits.

The hospital said it offered work experience within a healthcare environment.

More than 11 students have been supported through the Healthcare Foundation Apprentice scheme, preparing them for further education and a career within the NHS.

The hospital said it has also undertaken other initiatives, such as the Young Person’s Guarantee Scheme, providing opportunities for 16 to 24 year olds to explore a wide range of careers within the NHS.

The hospital, which also houses the four-star Golden Jubilee Conference Hotel, has further extended its support to a local college, offering placements for those keen on gaining experience within a bustling restaurant kitchen.

Gordon James, chief executive at NHS Golden Jubilee, said: "At NHS Golden Jubilee, we are proud to provide a range of mentoring and learning opportunities to young people.

"Through initiatives such as the Healthcare Foundation Apprenticeship, the NHS Scotland Academy’s Healthcare Pathway Pilot, and work experience opportunities we are providing young people with the tools and support they need to work across the NHS.

"We look forward to further strengthening our relationships with Universities, Colleges, Schools, and the local community to develop our workforce of the future."
