GLASGOW has been named as one of the 50 best cities in the world in 2024 by Time Out.

The site asked thousands of city-dwellers around the world what it's like to live, work and play in their hometowns, surveying local about the quality and affordability of food, culture and nightlife in their city.

They also asked locals if they are happy in their home city, is it a beautiful place and it is easy to make social connections.

After gathering the results, Glasgow was ranked at number 30.

Glaswegians themselves were one of the things found to make the city great.

Annie McNamee wrote: "Glasgow's identity and sense of community are infused into its soul, and spare no newcomer.

"Expect to be welcomed with open (albeit playfully mocking) arms as you explore a world of unique museums, indie bookshops and £1 shots."

The city was praised for its independent shops, for offering "cheap but delicious grub" and recognised for its thriving music scene.

Glasgow also had a 92% food quality score and happiness rating.
