Ross Stalker will be the Scottish Liberal Democrat candidate in the new constituency of Inverclyde and Renfrewshire West in the next General Election.

The newly formed constituency encompasses the entirety of the current Inverclyde seat, along with Houston, Crosslee, and Bridge of Weir.

Mr Stalker, a biotechnology graduate of the University of the West of Scotland, stood for Renfrewshire North and West in 2021.

He said: "I love Renfrewshire, and I am so proud to call this area my home, but we face significant challenges.

"After 13 years of Conservative government, this election is an opportunity for the change we desperately need.

"I want to fight for a fair deal for people across Renfrewshire. That means real action on the cost of living, real action on climate change and water pollution, and real action to clean up our politics."

Alex Cole-Hamilton, Scottish Liberal Democrat Leader, described Mr Stalker as a "fantastic candidate" who cares about the area.

He added: "By lending Ross your support, Inverclyde & Renfrewshire West can have that strong Lib Dem representation in Parliament

“Scottish Liberal Democrats are resilient and we will keep fighting for our communities, so even if you’ve never voted Lib Dem before, take a chance on Ross in the General Election, and see what we can do for you.”

Mr Stalker was recently employed as a campaign organiser for the Scottish Liberal Democrats.
