PHOTOS which capture Glasgow in all its gritty glory are the focus of an unusual new “exhibition”.

Respected photojournalist Brian Anderson has turned some of his favourite shots taken in the city over many years into a range of clothing.

Glasgow Times:

“My daughter Katelyn asked me where all my photos ‘went’ after I took them,” says Brian, smiling. “It made me think about how I could breathe new life into all these images I have taken over the years, pictures which I think show the soul and spirit of the city.”

Some of the images featured on t-shirts, hoodies, jackets and hats include Celtic legend Jinky Johnstone, Rangers icon John Greig, football fans on the Gallowgate and quirky street scenes.

Describing his new collection, Gallus Collective, as “wearable art”, Brian is hoping it will appeal to Glaswegians and fans of the city worldwide.

“I’m basically using the city of Glasgow as a backdrop,” he says.

“For me, the name ‘Gallus’ encapsulates the city’s spirit of audacity and creativity. It also challenges the traditional idea of a ‘gallery’, encouraging a fresh perspective on the intersection of photography and fashion.”

Brian, who is from Blackhill, is well-known for his celebrity pictures, his portraits of notorious crime figures and his candid shots of Glasgow people and places over the last 35 years.

At the height of BritPop, when Glasgow was awash with supermodels and pop stars (like Kate Moss, the Gallagher brothers and Amy Winehouse) he captured them all on camera, often clashing with minders in his bid to get the best shot.
