A DEDICATED ambulance worker is set to retire after 51 years. 

Andrew Reid was presented with a certificate and gifts at a presentation last week.

In his long career, Mr Reid served in roles including an ambulance technician for 39 years and worked across Islay, Mull, Dunoon, and Arrochar.

He said: "I have enjoyed a long career in the SAS covering a wide range of roles. After 51 years, I have decided to retire and let somebody else have a go.

"I have enjoyed working at many locations and my colleagues are more like friends - I will never forget them."

Michael Dickson, SAS chief executive, congratulated Mr Reid on his "fantastic" milestone and for all his service.

Mr Dickson said: "He is a tremendous ambassador for SAS and we wish him all the very best in his well-deserved retirement."
