A leading charity is bringing the glamour of Hollywood to Hampden with its upcoming blockbuster black-tie fundraising event: Strictly Movies.

Kicking off at 7pm on Saturday, March 23 with a red-carpet reception and a prosecco on arrival, guests will enjoy a three-course meal in Hampden Park’s Lomond Suite followed by a dance competition with music straight from silver screen classics.

A total of eight teams will be taking to the floor. Rehearsals have been going on for weeks now, with Shelter Scotland staff and supporters having been paired with experienced dancers, attendees should expect to be dazzled.

Alison Watson, Shelter Scotland Director, said:  “I know the contestants have been putting in the hours with their partners so I can’t wait to see what they’ve come up with on the night.

“This is going to be a fabulous evening of music and dancing with every penny raised helping to keep Shelter Scotland in the fight against homelessness.

“We’re in a housing emergency in Scotland: record numbers of kids are trapped in temporary accommodation, more and more people are becoming homeless, while over stretched services can’t cope with demand.

“We believe that everyone should have somewhere safe and secure to call home, so thank you to everyone who comes along; you’re helping us fight to make that vision a reality.”

The routines will be judged by Shelter Scotland Director Alison Watson, and Shelter Scotland Chairperson Kezia Dugdale.

Once the results have been announced, guests will have the chance to strut their own stuff on the dance floor until 1 am.

Nichola English, Shelter Scotland Community Fundraiser, added: "We're so excited for our first ever Shelter Scotland Strictly at the Movies.

"Everyone has been so dedicated to rehearsing and can't wait to finally get on the dance floor.

"We're grateful to everyone who's taking part; we're lucky to have supporters who are so passionate about Shelter Scotland’s work and the fight for home."

Tickets are on sale now, starting at £75, with table discounts and sponsorship opportunities also available at scotland.shelter.org.uk/get_involved
