A popular shopping mall in the city centre gave children who will be spending their Easter in hospital an egg-stra special surprise.

Buchanan Galleries and Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity teamed up to donate 500 Easter Eggs to young people undergoing life-changing treatment at the Royal Hospital for Children and the NHS staff.

Over the past decade, the partnership has raised half a million pounds for the charity, aiding children and young people facing life-limiting illnesses, their families and the staff who care for them.

William McGowan, head of Business Development and Events for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, said: "Easter time is always so exciting for children, with the school holidays, springtime activities and of course, a visit from the Easter Bunny.

"Many children however will spend this Easter in hospital, which can be challenging for them and their families.

"Parents and patients tell us just how much a little treat can brighten their day in hospital, so we are incredibly grateful to Buchanan Galleries for their continued support and for this generous donation.”

Kathy Murdoch, centre director at Buchanan Galleries, said: “Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity and the dedicated NHS staff are tirelessly committed to giving children and young people in the hospital the special care they require; we hope this small gesture can put a smile on the children’s faces this Easter, as they enjoy this chocolatey treat.”

Buchanan Galleries will continue to host various initiatives and fundraising events in support of the charity this year.
